Testimonials from clients:
Jennifer combines an incredible quiet intelligence with great patience and kindheartedness. She always has keenly observant ideas to offer, and she misses nothing in between. Working with her, you feel no sense of struggle or striving, but then you suddenly discover that she has made something spectacular. (Hai-Ting Chinn, mezzo-soprano)
I went to Jennifer for dramatic work on some tough baroque arias. The texts of these arias are very repetitive and it was important I get some interesting dramatic subtext to bring some fresh, new life to what I was singing, every time it is repeated. Jennifer really helped me work on this and I found her to be very easy to work with and she also has a wonderful sense of humor, which is great to break the seriousness of working on such heavy material. She's also a fantastic musician and I found it really helpful to work with her as she also plays harpsichord. Working with someone who is a fluid musician as well as a director is rare and I recommend Jennifer highly. (Robert Lee, countertenor)
Jennifer Griesbach is a delight to work with! As a coach, she uses her wide knowledge of historical performance practice and music history to collaborate with you to create the performances of your arias, both musically and dramatically. We have worked on French, Italian and German baroque opera arias, as well as English baroque arias. Jennifer always thoughtfully answers my questions with great advice and information. She has a fantastic ear for diction, and she really helps you to be at your vocal best. It is rewarding to work with Jennifer because she is a great performer as a harpsichordist and accompanist. She has a beautiful musical and energetic sound. I also greatly enjoyed working with her to record baroque opera arias, and I look forward to working with her again soon. (Lainie Diamond, mezzo-soprano)
Jennifer worked with me on the role of Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina. We met regularly over a period of a couple months, and at the end of that time I felt well prepared and completely ready to begin staging rehearsals. She is a fantastic musician—very knowledgeable about Baroque style and ornamentation. Her experience with stage direction is also invaluable to the preparation of an opera role. She gave me great ideas and plenty of food for thought toward the development of my character. At the same time, she helped me to create ornamentation in my da capo arias that was interesting and well-suited to my voice. Jennifer also possesses limitless patience—we would work the same passage over and over, and she was always willing to do it as many times as it took for me to feel good about it. I also appreciated that my regular work with her did not break the bank. I will absolutely go back to her for the next project I need to prepare! (Kirsten Solleck, alto)
